Holden Castle has dark, turbulent secrets, and two innocent young men find themselves standing in proxy, reliving the roles of earlier tragic figures, long thought dead. From the moment they arrive, Sean and Tony experience a profound and distinct case of déjà vu, as if they're living their lives and the lives of someone else at the same time. They discover that they are the secret.

I don't often give books a 5 star rating unless they fully engage me in the story and I find myself thinking about the characters and the story at odd times (when I am not reading it). Unlike some other reviewers, I found the book to have wonderfully dynamic characters that were fully developed and relatable. It's intresting, the story takes place in current times; but, does take the reader back to the 1400's where the murders took place that are causing the "haunting". Just so that some readers are aware, this book talks about homosexuality in the past and present. It touches on all types of love, as well as hate and raw emotions and murders. I thouroughly enjoyed it. I am going to look for other books by this author.

The Haunting of Holden Castle Ben Tousey 9780557152599 Books Reviews

Yes there are some spelling errors but if you read beyond those you find an amazing romance novel! I want too thank the author for having such a great imagination, it is so great that I was able to read the story with the images playing like a movie in my mind. I really had a hard time putting the story down for any reason until it was finished.
While reading the story, I wondered how the author was going to mesh the two stories together. The murder of the Prince of Holden Castle that happen centuries ago with the lives of two young men in the present. He was able to weave a tale that kept me reading, and interested. There were a few twist and turns that will keep you guessing. This book is a good read for a rainy afternoon, or whenever you want a fascinating story of intrigue from the past, that affects the present. This was my first book from this author, but it will not be my last.
Great romantic story and loved the setting. I thought it was well written with engaging characters and would recommend it
Good story, nice plot twists. Main characters are drawn to this castle, which is haunted by their previous lives. They have to figure out the true story of the Prince and his heartbreak, which caused the demise of the kingdom. There are twists and turns in the plot, ghosts, hidden rooms and the promise of love that even death or small minds couldn't stop. Overall a sweet little feel good page turner, I would have given another star if the sex had been written in.
I almost stayed up late to finish this book it is quite an amazing story of love, mystery, betrayal, secrets, redemption, forgiveness and discovering love again.

I got teary-eyed a few times will reading this story because the characters are moving and the story really pulls you in and keeps your heart racing with each chapter, I will be reading this one over again because this is a story that should be cherished FOREVER!!!
I enjoyed the storyline, but it felt longer than it should have. For some reason I had a hard time differentiating between Tony and Sean, eventually I gave up trying to figure who was who and just read. Quite a few errors, between missing words and wrong words.
Spine-tinglingly good crime/ghost story. I don't think it's possible to have a ghost story without a good who-done-it. And this author succeeded on both account.
Plus
- Amazingly well written, from eery premonitions tourists Tony & Sean experienced upon arriving at their Irish castle vacation, to convictions of being the target of unknown killer(s), there is a steady build-up of psychological terror and physical threats.
- Despite several scenes are repeated, new details and POVs keep them fresh.
- There are essentially two stories running almost parallel one medieval, one current time. The transitions are seamless.
- Lots of twists & turns. Feels much longer than 214 pg. listed.
Mixed
- Mushy ending with HEA all around feels a little forced.
- No index
