I have been accused of being a writer for a number of years and always felt uncomfortable about it. I am simply trying to be a writer. While in Portland, OR on a mission of the heart, it came together for me. I decided I would write a very long letter to my three year old grandson, Shane. The style is Zen Gonzo, a cross between the Buddha and Hunter S. Thompson. It is the story of my life to this point and includes relationships, work history, places I have lived and an endless spewing forth of opinions about most anything at all. I think all of our lives are fascinating and famous people shouldn't be the only ones to tell their stories. In addition, this allows me to live on forever and has solved my ongoing battle with mortality. Halloween in Portland is my life laid bare and as heartfelt as I am capable of being. I know it is a flawed work, but our lives are imperfect on a good day, so what's the big deal about a misplaced comma or hanging testicle, I mean participle. I couldn't imagine getting a dime out of this effort, because it was never my intention when I started writing to my grandson. In addition, if I am not making any money off it, I can encourage you to read it just for the hell of it. Thanks for your time. Larry

I am the author and I keep ordering copies of my book to share with people I meet. Well, of course, I am supposed to have glowing things to say about the book I wrote. The book was completed around two years ago. I consider it one of the great accomplishments in my life. The fact that it has touched many of the people who have read it is a blessing I never imagined. Back when I began, I never considered myself a writer and would deny it continually. The book moved me passed that I sometimes admit to being one without even being asked. Storytelling has been part of our nature for thousands of years and I am just humbly carrying on the tradition. Should you purchase the book, skip the first chapter and go right to In the Beginning on page 23. The whole book is an introduction and there was no need for me to write one.
